Protodude's Blog has posted a list of rumors sent in from an "anonymous source". Note that these are RUMORS and are NOT confirmed.
Quote from Protodude's Blog: "-RnR3 will follow a Rockman EXE 3 pattern. There will be only ONE version. However, a second “special” version will be available at a later date. Like RnR2, the game comes packed with “two versions in one.”
-There will be multiple playable characters, seven to be exact. (Characters that appeared in the wallpaper?)
The method used to play as other characters will be one of the major aspects of the game. Each playable character has their own set of abilities and advantages/disadvantages. Rockman is the most “balanced” of the seven.
-The theme of the game is not “noise/sound”. Rather, “white noise”, the event of static disturbances within EM Waves. Anon suggests the enemies could be a new class of EM Viruses.
-Capcom will be stepping it up gameplay wise. Anon mentions RnR3 will be significantly different from the past two games. Battles are more action oriented and give the players “new freedom.”
-A customization system reminiscent to the EXE series' “Navi Customizer” will be a vital role to the gameplay. Everyone's Rockman will be unique, it's “impossible” to have the same abilities as someone else.
-Brother Band seems to be the same, however Brothers can share and trade the attributes that make their Rockman to be “unique.” The amount of online Brothers has been upped to eight.
-A new multiplayer mode will be available via a location similar to the Skyhigh Coliseum. Here, you can play a cooperative mini game with Brothers who are On Air. The mini game involves deleting a set of enemies, while at the same time, collecting points to determine who has the most at the end of the game. Several exclusive power ups and Battle Cards are given away as rewards.
-The unnamed new guy has an FM-ian of his very own. It's red.
-Overworld will look VERY different. (I was told to put an emphasis on 'very' ) Expect sprites to get a make over along with new “head shots” for the returning cast.
-In a homage to the EXE series, Rockman.EXE will appear as a secret boss, who upon defeat, will reward you with something “cool.”
-Wifi play will remain almost the same as it was in RnR2. Expect a tournament mode (up to eight players) and voice chat via the Mic or the DS headset.
-No specifics about Rockman's “transformations”, but Anon remarked that they will be very unique.
-First official details of RnR3 will appear at Wave Masters Spring on May '08."
Ryuusei no Rockman 3 is here!
I had heard rumors, but didn't post them because I wasn't sure of how legit they were. Turns out, they were right. RnR 3 is already here. Or, at least the site is. They have some teaser text and a wallpaper. Weird how this is already up when the US version of RnR 2 isn't even released. Click here for the page. Here is a translation for the page: "The future of this planet is now up to them." "2008. The world is covered in Noise." A new character has been revealed... Who is the blue-haired guy, and what does it mean by noise? CoroCoro is holding a boss contest. This year, the theme is space, instead of constellations... What has come to earth this time? In the promo image, it appears that Subaru is standing on a broken bridge, probably the location of the impact zone of something big. Maybe an asteroid? Or (another) alien? MegaMan Starforce 2 Fact Sheet
The admin at Capcom BBS Lost posted a fact sheet for MegaMan Starforce 2 giving a general overview. In it, it is revealed that Bly (or Burai)'s translated name will be Rogue. Rogue? I don't like it much myself. Couldn't they have just left Bly?
Anyways, here is a quote of the fact sheet.
"Mega Man Star Force returns, delivering totally upgraded and cutting-edge online communication and device customization technologies through a portable RPG adventure that is brought to life in the iconic, action-driven Mega Man way! Mega Man Star Force 2 will be available in two versions, Zerker X Ninja and Zerker X Saurian with players able to choose between Zerker, Ninja, or Saurian depending on which version they choose.
Developed by the team behind the popular MegaMan Battle Network™ series, Mega Man Star Force™ 2 continues two months after the previous game left off. Geo Stelar and crew return to battle a whole host of UMA's (unidentified animated beings) and a new rival character appears named "Rogue." Amidst this new conflict, a mysterious organization emerges with plans to revive the ancient civilization of "Mu" by utilizing the force of an ancient heritage "OOPArt." It’s up to Geo and his virus-busting buddy, Omega-Xis, to thwart this latest threat.
Mega Man Star Force™ 2 blends a unique formula of RPG exploration elements with fast-paced action, as players travel and battle between coexisting worlds, the physical world and the virtual Wave World, to unravel the mystery around this new troublemaker. Players will encounter enemies in the virtual Wave World and battle them on three-by-five battle grids with their Battle Card deck. Mega Man Star Force™ 2 also adds an upgraded "Transer" system."
Wave Command Cards are now CONFIRMED for Star Force 2
After a personal conversation between Cu Chaspel of The Undersquare and Jason Allen, Capcom U.S.A.'s PR Specialist, he is able to confirm that English Wave Command Cards will be made.
"There will be cards available, and we'll have more details about how those cards will be distributed at a later date." Allen told me this morning. Hopefully this will set a trend for future MegaMan games, and perhaps we'll even see English Star Carriers!"
Sounds good. Maybe Capcom will stop taking things out from now on?
Gamer's Day Canceled forever but is being replaced
Quoted from MegaMan Network:
The announcement of Gamer's Day not happening this year -or ever again- was confirmed by Chris "Kramez" Kramer on the Capcom Unity blog. In its place, a new event called CAPTIVATE08 will be Capcom's new media event, currently scheduled for the end of May and all of the big gaming media guests have already been invited, including G4, Kotaku and Game Informer. Kramer also said that this new event will feature many different recently-announced games, such as Bionic Commando, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5. In addition to those games, a few new games might be shown, so here's to hoping we get new Mega Man content!
As a special bonus, Kramer hinted at the possibility of Capcom Unity inviting five of its community members for a chance to attend the event! The full details on how to be eligible for an invite will be coming in the following month.
On a side note, Kramer also talked about all of the other upcoming events that Capcom will take part in: QUOTE(Chris "Kramez" Kramer) Do not despair if you’re part of the media have not been invited, however. There will be many, many opportunities to catch up with Capcom this year. There will be this year’s E3, of course (cue farting noise), Comic-con in San Diego, CES in Vegas in January, quarterly press tours to New York, LA and (constantly) throughout the Bay Area, as well as some international events (Games Convention in Germany, TGS). Heck, we may even put on a few more smaller events like Digital Day.
